Crossroads4Hope is hosting its annual Wings4Hope event on June 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Pingry School, 51 Pottersville Road, Pottersville, according to a news release.

Crossroads4Hope was founded in 2001 by four New Jersey women to ensure that all people affected by cancer had access to support that was fundamental in their cancer journey and accessible at no charge, it was stated in a news release. Today, the organization reaches people in 45 states and four countries.

“Cancer turns your life upside down,” Crossroads4Hope CEO Amy Sutton said. “From diagnosis on, individuals and families are not prepared to face the fear, worry, and isolation that comes with cancer. That’s where Crossroads4Hope comes in.”

“Wings of Hope is a time to gather the community to join us in honoring survivorship, a major milestone while giving those just starting their journey hope and knowing they are not alone.”

Crossroads4Hope has partnered with the Somerset County Park Commission throughout the month of June to encourage individuals and families take advantage of public spaces to Walk4Hope and show support during National Cancer Survivorship Month, according to the news release.

Those who cannot take part in Wings of Hope or the walks and are a person diagnosed with cancer, caregiver or family member living anywhere in the United States, can submit a one-page written piece on their cancer experience, regardless of where they are in their journey. This can include poetry, monologues, scenes, song lyrics or flash fiction, according to the news release
.
All submissions must be sent to kjachim@crossroads4hope.org no later than Sept. 6, 2024, to be considered. All submissions will receive credit for their work. Writers of all skill levels and ages are welcome to submit.

This fall the McCarter Theatre Center will compile excerpts from all selected stories to create a short script encompassing cancer experiences that will be performed by professional actors and will include a talkback session at the end between the actors, audience and individuals whose stories were selected.
